Dancing Projection Zoetrope

Akinori Goto created an animated 3D volumetric display of a dancing figure. By carefully timing the rotation of a 3D printed sculpture with lines of light from a projector, a fully 3D cycling animation is created (called a zoetrope). It is important to note that this is not stereoscopic, but physical stereo, no funny glasses, and your eyes can’t tell the difference. However, the 3D print must be specifically made for a particular animation, so don’t get your hopes up for volumetric projection mapping just yet.
