Open Hap Video Codec Now on Windows and Mac

What do you do for your next projection mapping installation if all you’ve got is a normal laptop that needs to play multiple videos? If that all powerful high-end media server isn’t in the budget, Hap is here to help. It’s an open-source GPU video codec that eases the burden on your CPU by using the GPU for decoding and processing.

The codec was originally developed by Vidvox (makers of VDMX), along with Tom Butterworth but the work is now available freely, so jump in projection mapping community and help make this codec even more amazing. The codec currently is supported by TouchDesigner, OpenFrameworks (ofxHapPlayer), Jitter, DirectShow, with D3 Media Servers and Isadora support on the way. Add Cinder, Modul8, Millumin, CoGe, and a wide assortment of VJ apps for supported platforms on the MAC.
