OpenPool is an open source DIY project that uses a Kinect One and projector to surround an ordinary billiards game with magical and awe-inspiring visual effects. While OpenPool showed off their kit at SXSW 2013, Masaaki and company are now starting a Kickstarter campaign to help fund their work.

There’s a $1000 and $1500 option which includes the software, mounting hardware and Billiards pocket detector. Or you can put in $5000 to also get your own PC, Kinect One and projector. Since the kit is open source, you can even create and add your own effects. Awesome work!
