Projection During the Inauguration of Artefacto’s New Building

During the inauguration of their new building (2013), Artefacto has projected their new mascot into the meeting room!

It was made with two HD projectors and the 3D calibration was done with a simplified 3D model of the meeting room.  You can also check out an inside view of the projection mapping, offering a view of the projectors and equipment involved.

The software used for this projection has been fully developed by Artefacto.  This realtime 3D projection is inspired from the Spider Projection / Araneola.  The illusion and artistry brings the swimming, indoor elephant to life during the projection mapping experience.

Romain Cavagna is mainly working on Augmented Reality and Interactive Projections as a research project leader at Artefacto. He got his PhD in computer science from the Rennes 1 University on content management and quality optimization for 3D contents distribution and during it's postdoctoral research fellow at LIP6 he worked mainly on p2p networks for games. He is also the president of the Ubeek association whose first objective is to gather people and skills around artistic and digital projects.
