Le Petit Chef in the footsteps of Marco Polo

The guys from Skullmapping have done it again! They created a new experience with the lovable petit chef character. You can follow his adventures, in your seat around the dinner table, through 3d projection mapping.

In their own words: “Le Petit Chef in the footsteps of Marco Polo is a two hour dining show that tells the story of how the world’s smallest chef followed the route of Marco Polo. The show’s 6 course menu takes the guest along a culinary journey across the regions visited by the legendary traveler.”

The new night-time firework show called “Happily Ever After” is set to debut at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park on May 12. It will feature the most advanced projection mapping tech yet, and we are sure it will be magnificent! Guests will follow their favorite characters as they pursue their dreams and feel immersed in their magical world. The Making of INORI (prayer)

This awesome creepy-but-cool video features a dance performance that will make you dive into the surreal. It uses real-time facial projection mapping to change the look of the dancer’s faces. They switch from geometric designs, to skulls, to crying tears of blood. It is definitely worth more than a look.

Billboard tells us that“as Prosthetic Knowledge points out, the project is a collaboration between artist Nobumichi Asai, the design studio WOW, and the University of Tokyo’s Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory. The video features the dance duo Aya Bambi.”

After six years of silence, beloved music band Gorillaz are launching a new album entitled Humanz. The long awaited return of the band will be accompanied by an immersive pop-up experience called Spirit House. “The collaboration with Sonos will give fans exclusive music and visuals through physical installations and projection mapping technology.” According to Sonos Spirit House is “a place where fans can go deeper into the band’s dark, fantasy world and be dazzled by spectacular visuals.” This is bound to be epic!

Face hacking: The creepy cool art of facial projection mapping

by Rich Hardy from News Atlas

Extract from the article: “Madame Tussauds in Nashville is soon to launch a new interactive experience where a digital animation of a face will be projected onto the wax figure of Hootie & the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker. The facial projection technology will bring the wax figure to life — its face, at least — as the intricately projected image makes it look like the still waxwork is talking to you.”

Facial projection technology works on different kinds of art too, like sculptures, as the GOLEM project showed us back in 2015:
