On Cue with Poolaid

Pool aid for beginners! For those of you that are challenged at controlling a cue stick (I know I sure am), Poolaid is for you!

Pool, or more formally, pocket billiards is the family of cue sports and games played on a pool table having six receptacles called pockets along the rails, into which balls are deposited as the main goal of play. An obsolete term for pool is six-pocket.

Apparently, there are literally hundreds of pool games. Popular versions include eight-ball and nine-ball, though less known are ten-ball, straight pool, one-pocket and bank pool. Who knew?

And Poolaid is going to help you become a billiards master!

This isn’t the first time PMC has seen projection mapping hit the billiards table. Obscura Digital, an interactive media production studio made Cuelight, an absolutely stunning billiards experience:

More recently, the folks behind OpenPool launched a Kickstarter project on a projection mapping development kit for billiards pool tables.

As to getting your hands on a Poolaid, here’s what the authors had to say:

“Due to the many messages we are getting lately, asking about our commercial conditions and price of our product, we would like to inform all of you that we are still currently in development. Many new features are being added. We hope to bring you big news about our commercial status by the next year.

Meanwhile, we are open to exhibitions in Fairs and Events worldwide. If you are interested, please contact us to our facebook page through private message or send us an email to [email protected]. -Many Thanks for the support.”

Looks like we’ll have to stay tuned to get our hands on this magical experience.
