KickStarter for Super Easy Polygonal Projection Mapping – HeavyM

KickStarter for Super Easy Polygonal Projection Mapping – HeavyM
May 29, 2015 Brett Jones

HeavyM is an intuitive tool for projection mapping with simple polygonal shapes. HeavyM has been in beta since August 2014, and has had been downloaded 12,000 times with 150 projects using HeavyM already. Two days ago they launched a Kickstarter to fuel their conversion from beta to full featured product. They reached their ~$22,000 goal in 36 hours.

The tool supports both Mac and Windows, which is a huge plus. Lots of tools support only one or the other. They completely re-tooled their interface, opting for a simple and clean design for mapping polygonal shapes.

The feature I am must excited about are 50 looping animations that you can get you up and mapping in no time flat.

$22 will get you the “Kickstarter edition” with the above features, and for $54 you can get the “Live edition” with the additional following features.

Midi + OSC support – talk to your favorite apps

Syphon + Sprout support – send video between your favorite apps

Finally, when you are projection mapping, sometimes finding/building the right projection surface is half of the battle. For $108 you get the “Olga set design kit”, which is a set of triangle interconnecting shapes that you can use to make an abstract projection mapping surface. Pure genius.
