On The Fly At “Minimum Interface”

The on the fly is a minimum interface projection mapping project.  Though projected interfaces on surfaces have been done before, the on the fly projection mapping utilizes a piece of paper on a surface as, exactly how the name describes it, the minimum interface.  The piece of paper can even be flipped over to reveal another interface.

In the on the fly video, the piece of paper is tracked effortlessly, along with the button-like interface included on it.  Pressing a series of buttons, the user can pull up a different sub level of the interface…even upon readjustment of the paper on the table.  Later on in the video, a second piece of paper is added with an interface of its own and two users interact with both papers seamlessly.  A small group is shown doing a similar test of the system with a third paper.

The academic possibilities of a system like this are endless.  Gone could be the days of heavy books and chalk boards…each student could have their own minimum interface where all choices of lessons and information are readily available to them.
