Physical to digital and back again. In order to explore the concept of intimacy, Mike Alger, Ana Mickovic, and Jenil Buria took a 3D scan of a couple sitting on a couch, 3D printed it, then projection mapped content onto the 3D model. The team used the Sense handheld 3D scanner to get a high poly model of the couple, then 3D printed this model, and apparently the 3D print took 28 hours on a Makerbot.
The content was made using After Effects (all old school like).
The end result was a pretty cool projection mapping installation, with a nice 3d printing twist.
