Michael Flückiger turned his bicycle into an elephant. We’ve seen guerilla projection mapping before, but nothing quite like this. As Michael pedals his bicycle the speed of the wheels are translated into the speed of the elephant running. The end result is an elephant running through the streets of a city, parallel to the bike. The illusion isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty damn compelling.
The trickery is accomplished by measuring the bicycle speed with a speedometer, then using this as input to drive visuals in openframeworks. Looks like he used a Casio slim projector, some kind of tablet?, and powered the whole thing with a car battery.
+5 points for the tupperware projector enclosure. 🙂
